Itanagar, Dec 4 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik on Thursday said that Sainik Schools across the country have contributed immensely to nation-building and produced more than 70 percent of the officers currently serving in the Indian Armed Forces.
Governor Parnaik made this remark when he visited Sainik School, Rewa in Madhya Pradesh today, marking an emotional return to his alma mater where he was part of the institution’s first batch in 1962.
Standing before the iconic Yuvraj Bhawan, the Governor recalled the school’s glorious past, visionary founders and the timeless values that shaped generations of cadets.
He described the campus as a “sacred ground” where the foundations of discipline, leadership and character are laid for countless young minds.
Addressing the cadets, the Governor highlighted the distinguished legacy of Sainik Schools across India, noting that they have produced over 70 per cent of the officers currently serving in the Armed Forces, with Sainik School Rewa standing among the finest.
He urged the students to embrace discipline, hard work, teamwork and the spirit of healthy competition.
Encouraging the cadets to develop strong leadership qualities, he advised them to be confident and take on challenging responsibilities early in life.
“True leadership lies in communication, empathy, collaboration and the ability to influence others with integrity,” the Governor said, adding that these traits will be essential as they prepare to serve the nation and contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
In a special message to the girl cadets, the Governor commended them for breaking barriers and becoming symbols of empowerment and national pride.
He said that girls are excelling in academics, sports and adventure across the country and encouraged them to continue leading with courage and determination.
Urging them to embody the strength of Durga, the wisdom of Saraswati, and the grace of Lakshmi, he affirmed that Sainik School Rewa and later the National Defence Academy will shape them into capable leaders, thinkers and problem solvers.
“The nation believes in you and depends on you,” he said, describing them as torchbearers of a more equal and progressive India.
The Governor also addressed the teaching faculty, acknowledging their vital role in shaping future leaders.
He urged them to continue guiding, mentoring and inspiring cadets through personal example and active involvement in their academic, physical and character-building pursuits.
Highlighting the importance of emotional intelligence, a growth mindset and adaptability in a rapidly changing world, the Governor expressed hope that Sainik School Rewa would continue to strengthen its legacy as a cradle of nation-builders with renewed vision and commitment.
